It is through our variety of services and programs that we can truly empower the veterans in our community. Whether it’s a class, activity or simply helping individuals better understand their medical benefits, our mission remains the same — offering the veterans of Berks County the opportunity to prosper.
The Pennsylvania American Legion has touched virtually every facet of American life; our objective is to serve our community, state and nation. The American Legion also conducts many programs designed to benefit the youth in our communities. Our vision for a strong America consists of Four Pillars of Service: a strong National Security, taking care of veterans, mentoring youth and promoting patriotism.
The National Guard Employment Network, in alliance with Corporate America Supports You (CASY) and the Military Spouse Corporate Career Network (MSCCN), offers the Pennsylvania National Guard Employment Division career readiness support and placement through a broad network of resources and services to find jobs, training and education opportunities for soldiers and their families.
The PA Veterans of Foreign Wars serves, supports, and advocates for veterans from all eras—World War II to today’s youngest veterans. VFW programs help veterans enjoy life while still in the military, through transition to civilian life, and thereafter. Camaraderie, assistance, continued service, and protecting your interests—“No One Does More for Veterans” than the VFW!
“I liked the amount of employers and quality of job seekers. We met exceptional candidates who are willing and eagerly looking for work. I would recommend the job fair to both small and large business looking to hire. This year we met and hired a candidate from the Veterans expo. This is the third year we have attended the Veterans’ Expo and we will continue attending in the future.” – Tom R., Recruiter, Aaron Enterprises, Inc.
“I enjoyed spending the day at the EXPO. I thought it was very well organized, and had the veterans needs at heart. Thank you for that! I saw a great deal of people and businesses there who are interested in helping veterans. I would be happy to be included again. Anytime there is someone willing to reach to veterans that is a good thing. I was very appreciative of the opportunity to be there and help.” – Phil P., York County Veterans Affairs Office
The event was great for us. There was a lot of traffic and we have already heard back from some of the attendees. You folks did a great job with marketing ... – Kelly L., Keystone College PACC*VISTA
“I felt the event was outstanding (being a veteran myself)! I was able to network with several veterans’ service agencies, as well as with other excellent vendors. Professionally, [Lancaster County Career & Technical Center] was able to get some valuable exposure to a specific audience, generate awareness of the vocational training programs we offer, and mention of possible enrollment opportunities for job seekers.” – Quentin M., Lancaster Country Career and Technology
“The Veteran’s Expo & Job Fair was a good networking and recruiting opportunity for Coin Wrap, Inc. There appeared to be a strong turnout for the job fair, including a variety of qualified job seekers, and the event provided a variety of resources to the veterans in the community. The overall event was professionally orchestrated and our experience was positive.” – Krista D., Coin Wrap, Inc.
“The experience was very positive and it was humbling to have the opportunity to meet so many interesting people with exciting stories to tell … I am very excited to say that we did end up hiring one very strong candidate I met at the fair as an administrative assistant, and she has been doing a fantastic job thus far! I am very happy Cooper-Booth was invited to attend this event and look forward to doing so again next year! Thank you for all of your help and for the great things that you do for our veterans, as well as local businesses." – Rhiannah T., Cooper-Booth Wholesale Co.
